Braking Traffik will Merge with Family Resources, Inc.!
As a program of Family Resources, Braking Traffik will continue to provide quality programing through education and services to survivors of human trafficking. Our Founder, Maggie Tinsman, stated, "Having mutual goals of strengthening families and protecting children from compulsory servitude makes this a perfect fit."
Braking Traffik is dedicated to eradicating sex trafficking in the Quad City area of Iowa and Illinois. Between education, legislative advocacy and community partnerships, we provide the needed guidance on sex trafficking to organizations which identify, respond to and care for survivors. "This merger provides an opportunity for the mission of both agencies to be expanded to ensure that victims of sex and labor trafficking are provided the best care," said Mary Macumber Schmidt.
Family Resources has provided services in the Quad City area community since 1849 and provides a safe place for individuals, children and families.
Current Braking Traffik Executive Director, Cathy O'Keeffe, has been hired by Family Resources and will continue to provide the leadership to Braking Traffik.
Please note you can still donate to Braking Traffik specifically; just make a donation to Family Resources and specify that you want it to go to Braking Traffik.
Braking Traffik is dedicated to eradicating sex trafficking in the Quad City area of Iowa and Illinois. We strive to achieve this goal through:
We provide training on sex trafficking to organizations which respond to and care for victims. We provide general awareness training to community, civic and religious organizations.
We work to continually strengthen Illinois, Iowa and federal laws which provide justice for victims.
We coordinate efforts among social service providers, medical personnel, law enforcement and faith-based groups to ensure victims receive the holistic care they need.
